Ground Pork Tacos Recipe
This ground pork tacos recipe makes the perfect one-pan weeknight meal. The ground pork tacos are easy to make and delicious.
With this ground pork tacos recipe, you can mix up Taco Tuesday and still enjoy a flavorful taco. We love mixing up our taco dinners because it’s fun and you get to try new flavors. Plus, we had some ground pork stashed away in the freezer so this was a great way to make a delicious meal while making saving money fun!
Last week we made taco stuffed meatballs, this week it’ll be these ground pork tacos, and next week the kids will get to choose. Knowing them, it will probably be tacos served with a salad recipe or a taco salad.
Tacos are such an easy meal to put together so they work well for weeknights. Tacos are also popular with kids and kids enjoy creating their own flavors with their toppings.
Plus, making tacos can be a great way to use up some of those pantry staples while taking the pantry challenge.
Ground Pork Tacos Recipe Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 1 poblano pepper
- 1 tomato
- 1 pound of ground pork
- 1 envelope of taco seasoning
- ½ c of chicken broth
- ½ c of cheese of choice
- Flour or corn tortillas
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
It’s also worth mentioning that we use taco holders! These come in handy when making and serving tacos.
How to make this ground pork tacos recipe:
Slice the onion in half, then dice one-half of the onion. Thhe other half, we are going to slice and save for the topping.
Slice the poblano pepper. While we slice the pepper, if you prefer to chop it you can.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
Add the ground pork and salt and pepper to taste, to the skillet. As the pork browns, break the meat into small chunks to make the taco meat.
When the pork is cooked thoroughly, and shows no pink spots, push the pork to one side of the skillet. Add the diced onion and poblano peppers.
Allow the peppers and onions to cook down for about 3 minutes.
Once the onion and peppers have cooked down, add chicken broth and tomato paste to the skillet.
Stir everything together and add the taco seasoning to the meat and allow it to cook for 5 minutes.
Serve the ground pork taco meat in tortillas and top with the sliced onions we set aside, tomatoes, cheese, and any other favorite toppings.
