How To Use These Christmas Roll A Story Worksheets

Kids will roll the die to determine their character. If they roll a 1 their character will be a little elf. If they roll a 2 their character will be a reindeer, etc.
Write the name of the character on the planning sheet. You can give your character a name, such as, "a little elf named Dustin" or "a reindeer named Biscuit."
Repeat for the setting and the problem.
After kids have their character, setting, and problem, they will plan their story! They can write a quick sentence or phrases for the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Planning helps them get their ideas out on paper to determine how they want their story to progress.
After planning it's time to write! Kids will use one of the provided writing pages to write their story.
Depending on your child's age, you can use the guided lines (for younger kids) or the regular lines (for older kids).
You can also choose from a section at the top to draw a picture. Younger kids absolutely love drawing pictures to go with their story (and honestly, a lot of older kids do, too!) but you can have your child decide if they want to add a picture. This is a good way to build upon other skills, such as labeling.
