Cuisine American
- 12 ounce Bag of Original Check Mix
- 10 ounce Chocolate Melts
- 1 ounce Green Candy Melts
- ½ cup Peanut Butter
- ½ cup Cocoa Powder
- ½ cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Marshmallow Cereal
- Gold Coin Sprinkles optional
Mix together the powered sugar and cocoa powder in a large Ziplock bag. Set it aside for later.
Microwave the chocolate melts until the mixture is easy to stir. Add in the peanut butter and stir until both are combined. You may have to microwave the mixture a few more seconds.
Add in the vanilla extract.
Place the Chex cereal into a large bowl. Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the Chex mix. Carefully stir the mixture together with a spatula.
Pour the covered Chex mix into the Ziplock bag with the cocoa powder and powdered sugar in it.
Close the bag and shake to get the Chex Mix well coated.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spread out the chocolate muddy buddies on it.
In a small bowl, melt the green chocolate candies. Drizzle the candy over the Chex mixture in a zig zag pattern.
Sprinkle the marshmallow cereal and gold coin sprinkles all over the muddy buddies.
Let it dry and serve.
- Instead of chocolate candy melts you can use chocolate chips. There’s no exact measurement so just melt a few at time until you get enough to cover the Chex Mix.
- You can substitute the Lucky Charms cereal for any other cereal with marshmallows in it.
- We use creamy peanut butter in this recipe but if you want to mix it up you can use crunchy peanut butter.
Tips
- When you’re stirring the peanut butter chocolate mixture with the Chex Mix, do so carefully. Pieces will break but if you go carefully you’ll still have some pieces that won’t.
- I always like to melt the chocolate first and then fold in the peanut butter. It makes it easier to combine.
- To Store: Once the muddy buddies are dry, you can store in an airtight contain or Ziplock bag. I typically don’t keep it for longer than 5 days but it never lasts that long!
